Frequently Asked Questions
Are there prerequisites for certification?
No. While Basic and Intermediate certification can be attempted without any prior FETI learning or practice training courses, we highly recommend completing a learning course and a practice course to be successful. See our training overview for more information. Intermediate Certification must be completed prior to attempting Advanced Certification.
What training courses are recommended to be successful with certification?
While there are no requirements to attempt certification, we recommend individuals who are seeking certification to have the knowledge from the full FETI Methodology Course (Online) or Introduction to FETI (In-person) course and the practice from either of the Practical Application of FETI (Online or In-person).
What does certification entail?
Each level of certification requires the submission of 2 non-casework interviews and a passing score on the certification exam. Each interview is evaluated by Certified FETI evaluators who are CFP-A, Certified FETI Interviewing Practitioners – Advanced, and scored on proficiency metrics corresponding to the level of certification attempted. The certification exam deep dives your knowledge of the FETI Methodology and increases in duration and success rate as you move up in proficiency.
What does lifetime certification mean?
Basic and Intermediate Certifications are credentialed for the lifetime of the interviewer’s career with Certified FETI, the official governing body of the Forensic Experiential Interview. This means once complete, individuals with the Basic and/or Intermediate certification distinction can publicly share their interviewing proficiency indefinitely.
Once certified, can I use the FETI certification distinction in my signature?
Absolutely, each certification proficiency provides individuals with a unique distinction in their signature. For example, if Michael Perez is Basic Certified with Certified FETI, their signature can be written as Michael Perez, CFP-B. CFP-B is short for Certified FETI Interviewing Practitioner – Basic.
