Event Overview
Certified FETI’s Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview Course provides attendees with three days of instruction that includes three interactive classroom experiences, participation as an interviewer and participant in five interviews each, optional online independent learning and facilitated review of conducted interviews.
Throughout the course, each attendee will continue to develop and practice the knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained from one of the prerequisite courses; Introduction to FETI, FETI Methodology or Accelerated FETI.
This course does not certify an attendee as a practitioner (CFP-B, CFP-I or CFP-A) of the FETI® Methodology but is recommended as a course to complete prior to attempting any level of certification.

Can I attend this course if I have never had any other training in FETI?
No, this course does have a prerequisite requirement of receiving a certificate of completion for a learning course. It is important to know what FETI is and how to conduct a FETI interview before participating in a course that practices the technique. The online FETI Methodology course, the in-person Introduction to FETI course or the in-person Accelerated FETI course all fulfill this prerequisite requirement.
Does this course certify me in FETI?
No, this course does not certify you as a Certified FETI Practitioner (CFP). This course is to practice the FETI Methodology that was learned during either the online FETI Methodology course or the in-person Introduction to FETI course. You do receive a certificate of completion for the Practical Application of FETI course if you are present for all instruction and complete all required coursework and exercises. To be certified as a FETI Practitioner (Basic, Intermediate or Advanced) you must participate in a separate process were you are evaluated to assess your proficiency and skill level utilizing the FETI Methodology. The Practical Application of FETI course is one of the best ways to prepare for that process.
What certificate do I receive after this course?
Each person who successfully completes the Practical Application of FETI course (is present for all instruction and completes all required coursework and exercises) receives a Certificate of Course Completion that outlines the course date and number of course hours.
Is the course content appropriate for all audiences?
The Practical Application of FETI course is available for registration to any person over the age of 18. The content and discussion in this course will necessarily engage topics including high-stress and trauma. This course is intended for a professional audience, specifically for those who intend to interview persons about highly stressful or traumatic experiences. Due to the nature of the course it is not possible to provide a content warning prior to each example that may be given. Please be aware, some may find the content emotionally and intellectually challenging to engage with. Persons who are unable to be present during discussions or examples involving sexual assault, death or significant physical or emotional harm should not attend.
I can no longer attend and the cancellation window has passed. Can a colleague go in my place?
Absolutely. We are happy to facilitate your registration being moved to an alternate person. Please keep in mind that the new registrant will need to meet any prerequisite requirements for the Practical Application of FETI course (online FETI Methodology Course or the in-person Introduction to FETI Course)..
About the Course
Course Hours: 24
The Practical Application of FETI course takes place over three consecutive days. Some attendees will choose to review more interviews than is required by the course in order to enhance their learning. Other attendees will complete the minimum requirements. You have flexibility outside of the required submissions and live sessions to do what works best for you as a learner and for the time you have available.
Over the three days you are required to be present for 3 classroom sessions and 5 interview sessions for a total of 24 hours (9 am – 5 pm PST) you will need to be available online at a specific time.
During the course you will be completing answers to questions within the Certified FETI online Practical Application of FETI Course. In order to complete the answers you will often be required to watch interviews you conducted or interviews where you were the participant.

Event Reminders
- Prerequisite requirement of completing the FETI Methodology Course (Online), Introduction to FETI (In-Person) or Accelerated FETI (In-Person). Important: While our faculty will review some of the components of the FETI Methodology during the course, there is an expectation to have knowledge of FETI prior to attending.
- Attendees must be present for the entire training, complete all coursework and fully participate in all exercises and discussions to continue in the course and receive a certificate of completion.
